Woodcott Farm is a completely off grid site producing free range eggs to be supplied to St Ewe Eggs. The site has been developed from scratch with the aim to be as sustainable as possible and maximise hen welfare. The multi tier system within the shed allows hens to express natural behaviors, with this being furthered in the range area due to 1,500 trees having been planted.

The shed is home to 12,000 brown hens (H&N) with the power needed to un the shed provided by the 60kW of solar panels and batteries. The litter from the birds is taken to the Menchine Farm Biogas plant to produce renewable energy. All of the water for the farm comes from the on site bore hole. We believe this type of setup is certainly the way forward when looking to develop new poultry farms.
